Overview
 
This guided course is led by Dr. Howard Penrose, Ph.D., a leading international expert in the field of electrical motors and systems.
 
In the first section, the student will learn basic electro-mechanical theory, motor and transformer theory, insulation, motor connections (NEMA and IEC) as well as distribution and control basics.
 
The second section covers application considerations for AC induction motors including selection and application.  Application, energy efficiency, installation considerations and the basics of belted and direct drive alignment and tensioning will be covered.
 
In the third section of Level 1, general maintenance and troubleshooting will be covered.  Greasing, general maintenance and an introduction to the application of motor circuit analysis, electrical signature analysis, ultrasonics, vibration, infrared, multi-meter and insulation resistance testing is included.
